Coaching Team
Our Head Coach
Manatee Swim Academy’s coaching team is headed by founder and head coach Elisa Leong, a former Malaysian national swimmer and fencer.
Upon retiring from competition, her passion in swimming has led her to formulate a syllabus that is fun yet practical. It is a syllabus that focuses on water confidence, water safety and providing guidance to swim the correct way. This is something that she feels is lacking in the learn to swim programs today.
Before opening Manatee Swim Academy, she has already been coaching for close to 20 years, helping children and adults to overcome their fear of water and giving them valuable swimming skills.
During this time, she has also found time to certify herself in various coaching, water safety and sports education programs:
- Malaysia Aquatics (MAS)
- The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA)
- International Life Saving Federation (ILS)
- Life Saving Instructor (LSSM)
- Bronze Medallion – Life Saving Society Of Malaysia (LSSM)
- Swim Specific Strength and Conditioning Workshop by ISN
- The Importance Of Recovery In Sports Performance by ISN
Our Coach
Coach Brandy Chew is a former competitive swimmer, having swam for state and country in events such as the Malaysian Open meet, ASEAN School Games and SUKMA.
Having stopped swimming competitively, he continued to be active in the sport, coaching younger kids in learn to swim classes and in more advance classes helping to build confidence and making them better swimmers.
He approaches coaching with the same dedication he has during his competitive years, with dedication, discipline, and perseverance. He is a wonderful people person, and he brings a lot of fun to his classes which his students enjoy tremendously.
Former national swimmer, coach Keith Lim, has done it all in competitive swimming. One time record holder as the fastest swimmer in Malaysia, he has represented Malaysia in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the World University Games. Closer to home, he represented the state in SUKMA and Malaysia in the SEA Games.
Upon retiring from competitive swimming, he has moved on to teaching learn to swim and coaching more advanced swimmers who hopes to emulate his success. He hopes that he can share his experience with budding swimmers, thus creating the next batch of national swimmers.
